Nelson Mandela International Day–also known as Mandela Day–is celebrated annually in South Africa on the 18th of July. Mandela Day is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each person has the power to transform the world and the ability to make an impact. Each individual is asked to take 67 minutes from their day to contribute meaningfully to their society.
Mmoho was invited by Isizinda Sempilo Organization, one of the implementing partners of the Mmoho Campaign, to take part in their Mandela Day activity. This day was filled with the refurbishing and painting of the exterior of the Soweto Methodist Church of South Africa, where the Isizinda Sempilo’s offices are currently based. Isizinda Sempilo Organization was established in 2008 by Bongani Makhaya together with community members and professionals, and aims to provide strategic intervention for HIV/AIDS awareness, education on preventative measures of diseases of lifestyle such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity targeting the historically disadvantaged and marginalized communities of Soweto and the surrounding areas through the relevant community-based intervention.
Mmoho is proud to partner with Isizinda Sempilo Organization.
